Lake Placid Girls Modified Volleyball
Information for Parents
Goals: Players will learn the fundamentals of the
game of volleyball and improve their physical conditioning. They will also learn life lessons like the
relationship between hard work and improvement, sportsmanship and being a
member of a team. My hope is that
players will enjoy volleyball and be excited about continuing in the sport.
Practices: Players are expected at every practice and need
to let me know if they need to miss practice for a good reason (Dr.
appointment, etc.). Practices start Monday, August 21st, 9:30-11:00 AM.
In order to practice you must have your athletic contract completed, as
well as health forms and physical.
Remaining on the
team: Players may be removed from the team for
behavior issues or unexcused absences from practice. Players may become ineligible due to grades
or other issues in school (see the Athletic Contract).
Rules: My rules are designed to create a focused,
positive, hard-working and encouraging environment in which to learn
volleyball. Players are expected to
support each other, follow directions and manage their own behavior. Volleyball is a No Drama Zone. No drama, no gossip, no tears. We are here to have fun and learn.
Games: Come out and support the team! Please cheer the team on, but avoid
instructing the players while they are playing.
Please don’t yell at the officials (or coaches).
Transportation: There is a bus to take Wilmington players
home after practice. Lake Placid players
need to arrange their own way home. After
away games, Wilmington players will be dropped off in Wilmington, Lake Placid
players will be dropped at the school.
If you would like to drive your daughter home after an away game, I will
have a sign out sheet. Players can ride
home from away games with their parents only, unless it has been previously
approved in writing through school administration. There are no busses after home games.
Equipment: Athletic clothing, volleyball shoes and a
water bottle. Knee pads are optional.
Personal possessions: Players need to look after their own
stuff! Lock it up or don’t bring
it. I can’t take responsibility for
looking after player possessions.
